Well Zo, I found that quite interesting. At least while I'm here bored at work for 24 hours! I saw that Nevada only has like 10 counties! You could close out an entire state. Although some of those high points are quite high and may take all day to get up! There any people who have closed out entire states?

I'm no mountain climber, so for the most part I'll stick to my "little hill in the woods" kind of highpoints!

If I ever do close out a state, though, it'll be CT or RI. Supposedly those two are so easy that people have finished the 13 counties between them in a day and a half. I did get CT's state highpoint (and toughest county) last year to give myself a head start.

Fun hobby. Definitely gets you exploring places not many people have seen.

Nevada would be difficult. Other than LV and RENO, it is an uninhabited desert. Made the drive from Reno to LV a few years back; talk about a long drive with nothing to see. But it beat the hell out of staying in Reno for 3 days; what a dump.

Speaking of long drives with nothing to see, drove across Kansas once on the way to Colorado. That's about as boring a state a habitable place could be. I'd almost rather it'd be desert as rocks and cactus are a little more interesting to look at. It was just as hot too. Triple digits!

NE Kansas isn't bad. I haven't made that drive yet, but they tell me it's brutal. Personally, the drive from KC to St. Louis is as brutal as I've been through. Nothing but adult bookstores and redneck shacks.

Ahhh.. I dunno... I think there's a good mix here. Perhaps there's some fairly vocal Dems that makes it seems like it's Dem-heavy... Me and TBFANATIC are Libertarian sympathetic, and I know there are Republicans here.

I'm Libertarian bordering or leaning into that whole "liberaltarian" notion being kicked about. I used to be far more radical/reactionary (depending on how you see libertarianism) but have since come around to be a little more pragmatic or gradual minded in my view of things. Not to mention I have a very personal stake in some issues that are only being taken up by one side of the coin as far as the duopoly in charge goes (the other side is content to exploit the unvarnished hate for all it's worth on the other hand), so I feel compelled to give in on my principled stance a bit with that in mind.

Like everybody else, I don't think my ideals fall directly inline with any one group of people. I am very open minded. However, because of that I often times find myself directly opposed to most conservative viewpoints.

I actually am a little more radical than that, I believe in global unification and equality. I think the natural evolution of society(abolition of slavery, individual rights, sanctity of life) will lead us all to accept one another. Unfortunately the world is a good two or three hundred years away from casting aside their differences. When that happens we can all look toward grander achievements; imagine the resources of the entire world going toward things that can help everyone. Genetics, nano-technology, interstellar colonization. No military. Everyone sharing a common language, a common currency, hell the world doesn't even share the same system of measurements. Anything that brings the world closer towards that I am for.
