I find it somewhat amusing that after years of getting told how much better Cuba's healthcare is than ours, that people are now protesting there because of how bad their healthcare is.

I hope things get better there soon, though, even if it doesn't seem likely. Still we're getting a better picture now of how repressive their government is thanks to them having smartphones finally.

I visited Cuba in 2017, and smartphone access was heavily restricted by the government. In order to access the internet, you needed to visit a government-approved hotspot that's incredibly slow, censored, and you have to enable cookies to allow the Cuban government access to everything on your phone .Knowing this, we formatted our old iphone 4s and used them. Once we got there, we learned about "El Paquete," Cuba's pirated offline "internet" - 1TB flash drives delivered to their homes and shared via closed private networks.

The Obama Administration removed (reduced?) economic sanctions against them and removed our travel restrictions. I think that was helpful. Trump reversed all of it when he got elected. Hopefully Biden follows the Obama Administration's path.

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me to keep up the idea that Cuba is some kind of rogue or antagonistic state. I've always had the impression that they are a repressed nation. The best way to combat that is to give the people of that country economic support and power.

One of the bigger hurdles to ending the sanctions is there are like 5 laws that were passed that codify the sanctions placed against them so unfortunately it's going to take Congress and Senate to overturn those laws, which I doubt will happen because Rubio will probably veto it and he can probably find enough senators to keep the veto in place.

Started watching the 1/6 commission hearing about halfway through and missed Cheney and Kinzinger's questions, but did catch some of it later. Very riveting testimony, I pray they find the evidence (phone records, receipts, texts etc) that show who funded this and encouraged the attempted coup. I wish that a Fox or NewsMax or OANN host had been at the front lines on 1/6 and experienced the sheer terror these brave officers sustained; instead they are being called "paid crisis actors". More than likely, they would have been part of the insurrectionists storming the House to Stop the Steal. They are more than disgraceful, just like the misinformation they spew about COVID-19 and vaccines and masks. Do as I say and not as I do, the whole hypocritical lot of them.

He needs to resign. The way he's trying to gaslight everyone into thinking it's just about his Italian-style greetings is pathetic when there are far more serious accusations involved.

He needs to resign. Not that it'll matter to those enclosed in the R media bubble but, all of the L media outlets are covering this scandal and the opinions being presented are definitely not pro-Cuomo. There's no media cover-up, no making the story go away.

'm also interested to see how Chris Cuomo fares.
