    • But Trump wasn't "suspect". He had a history of bigotry (sued by HUD for Fair Housing Violations and the state of New Jersey for paying Blacks less than Whites, placing a full page ad in the paper trying to have 4 blacks executed after they were exonerated), grabbing women by the pussy, forcing himself on women, tax evasion, not paying his workers, multiple bankruptcies, etc., etc., etc. But that wasn't suspect. The problem gp, is when you support people who embrace bigotry, and now sedition, you say that you support those things too.

      But her e-mails!

        • LOL at a Maine resident thinking he has any idea how Immigration or the southern border even works. Maybe if a quick explainer could be written on something the size of an index card, he'd get it.

I also have no respect for anyone who puts no effort into understanding the plight of Latin American refugees or the complexity of even being granted refugee status. It's absolutely sad and pathetic to condescend to actual human beings by regurgitating right-wing talking straw-man arguments. The same person parroting the crap he's seen on NewsMaxx I guarantee justifies the old family separation policy, happily turns a blind eye to refugees, all while spouting "christian" platitudes. You're no Christian, y'all are a snake holding a cross.

You gotta know that those 7 year old Nicaraguan boys, and their bloodthirsty 5 year old sisters, are an existential threat to this country. Oh, and don't forget their moms and dads that are parents, but also "mules" bringing drugs and rape to our southern borders.

            • I'm old enough to remember Republicans lionizing Cubans for crossing 90 miles of open ocean on rafts and doors. Tell me again how that differs from from walking on foot from Honduras to Texas or Arizona, across the desert, or paying Coyotes to take them across. Tell me again how it's different. Because it sure as shit looks the same to me. I don't recall hearing anyone say we can't afford to let them come, we are full, they are taking our healthcare, or our jerbs, or any other dumbass strawman argument.

I'd rather have 1,000 people who will risk life and limb, or will send their kids here with nothing more than hope and a prayer and their faith in this country, than 10 so-called citizens who think because they were born on the other side of an imaginary line that they are somehow better and entitled to more than those yearning to be free. I'll light my lamp beside that golden door for anyone willing to risk their life and go through hell for a shot at the American dream. If you think that's a bad idea, I question whether you understand what America is really about.

But I don't think that's what the argument is. I think the argument is how can we process these people and place them as quickly as they are arriving, while refusing those who are here for nefarious reasons. I know I trust the Biden administration to do a better job than the Trump administration did. But that's drilling a hole to the center of the earth and dropping the bar down the hole.

              • Immigration can under the right circumstances be a win-win, that's why Republicans try so hard to frame these refugees as criminals or terrorists who are going to leach away our wealth through welfare.

That being said as long as we have no control over the economy/government of our neighbors to the south, we are limited as to what we can do to slow down migration. It's actually quite sad, at the turn of the 20th century we were in a position to lead an economic union of North and South America, but after a century the furthest we've ever gone is the steaming pile of dog shit that is NAFTA, and a lot of animosity. Wish we would focus more on this side of the hemisphere

                • The R's demonize the immigrants... and their big donors use them for slave labor and stick the taxpayers with the bill to cover their healthcare and low wages.

Yep. Rs kill unions, exploit cheap immigrant labor, and campaign that “brown people are stealing your jobs” all the while saying that “unions are destroying this country”. This worked wonders in Alabama when their Amazon workers voted against collectively bargaining power. It’s sickening, but it’s worked wonders for these clowns.

The problem is getting some folks to accept that they are objectively wrong. Sometimes there is no debate. The earth is not flat. Vaccines cause adults it’s too late to fix climate change masks work, evolution, nuclear energy …

                        • I've noticed we don't seem to be interested in posting about the current state of affairs--and I get it. There is way too much ignorance/hate/ruthlessness out there to try and keep up with.

Let's just wait until some state capitol is taken over by 3percenters and an LEO is shot in the process. Unfortunately, It's just a matter of time.
