We may have just entered the part of the election where, to use a hockey analogy, Biden has established a three goal lead and there's under 20 minutes to play.
Headlines from new NBC/WSJ poll (conducted after the debate, 9/30-10/1)
1. Biden's national lead among registered voters expands from 8pts to 14pts
Biden 53%
Trump 39%
Was Biden 51%, Trump 43% in Sept poll before debate
It's registered voters only, so I suspect if you applied some kind of likely voter screen that lined up with most pollster's likely voter screen you'd get a result like 52-41 Biden. That would line up pretty well with the LV poll Reuters-Ipsos also put out today showing it 51-41 Biden. But, the top line numbers aren't the thing in this poll.

If those numbers are anywhere close to true. Hell, if Biden's margins are half that good with those three groups, Florida's an early call on election night and we go to bed knowing Trump is gone.The biggest declines for Trump in the poll come from seniors (who are now backing Biden by a 62 percent-to-35 percent margin) and suburban women (58 percent to 33 percent).
And men 50 years and older moved from a 13-point advantage for Trump in the pre-debate NBC News/WSJ poll, to a 1-point advantage for Biden in this latest poll.

This new data is in line with what the Economist was showing: a steady strengthening of Biden support over time. The trend is unmistakable, isn't it?

I continue to wonder if some of the fringier models like OurProgress or LeanTossup are going to turn out being "right".
And even they might be missing something. The Lincoln Project has been pretty adamant that Mississippi and Kansas' Senate races are more winnable than they appear to be on their face.
Maybe that means they know what October surprises are potentially about to pop up for the Republican candidates? I dunno. That might also explain why everyone is starting to act like Lindsey Graham is dead and buried in South Carolina even though he's polling at a small lead in that race. His O2 level has dipped to the mid-to-high 80's.
They've also put him on steroids...
Something of note about the steroid in reading further. Steroids obviously reduce inflammation, but to be precise about their use with COVID, UK studies showed you shouldn't prescribe them until later in a more severe case of COVID because they suppress the immune system. That's bad early on when fighting COVID. It's a blessing later on, though, if COVID triggers a cytokine storm where the immune system goes nuts and starts attacking everything in sight.

Here's a far smarter and more qualified person explaining the significance of the revelation about the prescription of steroids:

Dexamethasone is pretty extreme sign though. It’s mostly been reserved for patients on ICU or ventilated—occasionally for patients on oxygen. #COVID19
2) Worried—Trump’s new treatment with DEXAMETHASONE is serious. The WHO makes clear that dexamethasone is only for “patients with severe and critical #COVID19”!
3) here is NIH’s official guideline. Dexamethasone is a serious drug. Not for light or moderate infection anymore.
