But I don’t see the police arresting these folks for vandalism. (Oh shit. Now I’m going to be told that I have to find examples of Biden supporters who were arrested for boat induced vandalism).

Are you making the claim that police are shooting Biden supporters and harassing them but not fining Trumpkins based on their political affiliation?

FOP has given its strong endorsement to trump. Draw your own conclusions.
I’m a senior. As are Donnie, Puckhead, and JB.

          Who knew?

The NNU gave its support to Biden, I don’t believe nurses will be letting their Trumpkin patients wither away without care because of it

            • The police spent all summer since the Floyd murder trying to convince us that they weren’t arrogant, racists who thought they were above law.

So more an 2/3rds of Union chapters vote to enforce an arrogant, racist who thinks he’s above the law.

              • Mark Twain said if you tell the truth, you don’t have to have to remember anything.

Trump told reporters yesterday that he "called home" to Melania Trump at the time and told her how upset he was for not being able to visit the cemetery.

Fact: Melania Trump was on the same trip with the President and was scheduled to attend the cemetery visit.

Damn dude, some of your arguments are just ... whew ... I don’t know what to call this.

Are you serious here? Nurses take the Nightengale Pledge, their version of the Hippocratic Oath, so I’m pretty sure you don’t have to worry about them. Besides, medics of all races, nationalities, creeds, etc. commonly treat people they or their “people” are ideologically opposed to. But you knew that when you put forth your premise. Right? I’m gonna assume you did.

So this whole point of comparing the cops to nurses is, I don’t know, maybe sarcasm or deliberately obtuse (someone else threw that label out first for the record, but it might fit) ... because there’s no way you’ve been unaware of police behavior this summer. We’ve all been talking about it nonstop. I dunno, man. I’m shaking my head here. But then again, you have vehemently defended confederate statues and “tradition” in the not-too-distant past. Maybe you like to take contrarian points of view but don’t like to give up a losing argument?

The reverse is actually true and you're making a bandwagon appeal. I'll take whatever point of view that I feel is the logical/right view. In this case, that means addressing the specific point made about the FOP.

A professional union supporting a candidate for election does not mean that to that end they will ignore their duty. Thus, the very relevant comparison with the NUU. That's it, that's the argument that was made and what my counter-argument addressed. If you disagree, than by all means let's continue with that.

Just please.. red herring after red herring gets thrown out in this thread involving the broader issue of policing. If every policing action posted here is going to be coated under false dichotomies, than there really isn't much room for discussion.

                        • Except, of course, there is substantial evidence that the profile people based upon race and blacks make up a disproportionate amount of the prison population.

                          One last time

The police can say they aren’t racist, but if 2/3rds of their union representatives support a racist AND have been murdering black people, profiling based upon race and stopping people because of race, I’m thinking they have a substantial number of racists in their ranks.

Especially when they had to know what a black eye this was going to give them.

                          • From a PR standpoint, any police looking to distance themselves from racism and the escalation of chaos in the streets probably shouldn't let their union endorse Donald Trump. It's just a bad look.

It has been pretty eye popping to a lot of Americans, myself included, that the percentage of police who appear to either be white supremacists or tacitly support those in the fraternity who are is way higher than I would've hoped/expected. It's disappointing.

You really thought that police unions, whom the vast majority have not been supportive of a Democrat in decades, would suddenly side with the party whose constituency is rioting in the streets to defund them? Politicians care about optics, and it is definitely bad optics, but don't blame your average Joe who wants to keep his job with acting on self preservation.

                              • DD I remember you saying that there would be collateral damage politically from the Minnesota riots and all of the other riots that happened ever since.

Now that you are tallying up that damage, how do you not understand where it is coming from? Saying it is racially motivated is just way out of touch with what police officers are concerned about. What makes more sense, that they're upset that they might be held accountable in that they can't go out and racially profile against blacks, or that they don't want to lose their jobs or that their work environment may be made less secure?
