Disagree with actually sending students to attend the classes in person but a lot of businesses are going to go belly up before the end of the year.

Because DeSantis is a fucking idiot who made the flea infested bed we currently find ourselves in. If he did what the experts said early then we could actually be having the conversation to reopen schools, but now that conversation changed from "How safe will it be?" to "What is the expected body count?"

      • The head of the CDC said 3 weeks ago, if everyone would wear a mask we could put 40,000 people in a stadium and be watching football today.

If DeSantis is really worried about high school football, make and enforce a mask requirement. But no, he has to play to the Trump base.

        • Meanwhile our private school here in Ohio just sent their big announcement on reopening and the procedures they will have in place. Kids will be back 5 days a week, with no reductions in class size. They will have some picnic tables outside so kids can eat outside if it's nice out to help them spread out. Masks will be optional for kids and staff. But they are going to check temps as you come in, and they will set up extra hand sanitizing stations. They did say though much like with the flu, they will be in constant contact with all local health boards in cases of outbreaks. But they feel it's important for the kids mental well being that they get to be back in school learning. Lets just say we are now investigating homeschooling.

          • Today.

Infectious disease expert Dr. Colleen Kraft said the United States doesn’t have a handle on coronavirus, largely due to people’s behavior.

“I’m not really sure at this point…what to say differently, except that we may be more at a toddler status, where we have to sort of learn ourselves by putting our hand over a fire to actually learn that there's a problem,” Kraft said.

Schools cannot open in-person and sports are being canceled due simply to “our inability to wear a mask, social distance and wash our hands,” she said.

              Christian or secular private schools?

All of that came out today after a spate of Gravis/OANN polls over the past few days led some to wonder if Biden had lost momentum (Gravis explained OANN is deliberately sitting on the polls Gravis has done showing Biden doing well and only releases good results for Trump). And then there's longtime Gravis/OANN wannabee Scott Rasmussen alone on an island today:

Nothing says garbage pollster like a 7 point swing in a week where the downswing cannot be explained by any scandal or other major event and where every other poll released that day, many by more strenuous and more respected pollsters, went the exact opposite way.

                  • 57% of Pennsylvanians believe that there is a secret Trump voter.

These people believe there are a number of so-called secret voters in their communities who support President Donald Trump but won't tell anyone about it, as Monmouth puts it.

"The media consistently reports that Biden is in the lead, but voters remember what happened in 2016," said Monmouth's polling director, Patrick Murray. "The specter of a secret Trump vote looms large in 2020."

Consider Trump's shock victory in 2016. Ahead of Election Day, polling consistently showed Democrat Hillary Clinton with a single-digit lead -- yet Trump won the state (albeit very narrowly, by 0.7 percentage point).

The 2016 election clearly left an impression on Pennsylvania voters – and right now, they’re apparently downright skittish.

                    • Trump demotes his campaign manager Brad Parscale for not keeping Trump from saying stupid things.

Trump was busy today. In addition to shuffling his campaign staff, he did an advertisement for Goya foods from the Oval Office and, I’m sure sent a thank you note to Putin for hacking Obama and Biden’s twitter accounts.

                      • I believe there are “shy Trump voters” a la “shy Tories”. Yes. I don’t believe Trump is actually in the 30’s and a lot of undecideds are in fact Trump voters too embarrassed to admit it out loud. Trump will probably get 42-45% of the National vote. He probably won’t get an iota more, though, because I also suspect that any undecideds who aren’t “shy Trump voters” are likely to break heavily to Biden.

Looking at the initial list of who was hacked, it sure does look targeted towards one general side of the aisle versus the other.

I am surprised how many people got fished, did not think bitcoin was popular and most people using it would have knowledge of how it's a prime scamming tool.

I mean that's well within the margin of error, hardly a shock. Also for all the hype about how polls got Trump's win wrong, 538 still gave him like a 30% chance of winning which was quite significant. The shy Trump voter seems overblown as a result. Hillary's lead wasn't that huge down the stretch, some of the more amateurish predictions out there not withstanding.

                              • Part of this is a function of how hard the pollster pushes leaners to declare a preference. Quinnipiac’s poll appears to have 11% undecided nationally and that Monmouth poll has 7% undecided in PA. In a high profile election like this where both candidates have high name ID and Trump, in particular, is a very well known brand, do we really believe there’s that many undecideds?
And that’s why I say, I think 1/3 to 1/2 of those undecided counts are probably shy Trump voters but the rest, who are probably legit undecided voters, I suspect will break very heavily against the incumbent to Biden in an electoral environment like this.

But, you know, if Trump keeps screwing up maybe those shy Trump voters eventually do abandon him on Election Day.
