  • No shame in losing to an obviously superior team. Taking them to game 5 was excellent.
I’m a senior. As are Donnie, Puckhead, and JB.

    Who knew?

    • I've gotta pull for the Nats. Dave Martinez as the skipper--he paid his dues and learned so much under Madden. And how about Rocco? Takes the Brewers to the playoffs. You lament all the talent that has left the Rays, but still I'm proud of all the guys that have gone on to excel.

      • Rocco took the Twins to the playoffs, but I get your point. Martinez was on the hot seat in May, I think the Nats started off 19-31, but they look like a team of destiny right now.

        • I'll be cheering for Martinez.

Haaaa. I was in the suds last night—thinking all things malty and hoppy, after watching the Nats hold on.

            • So, the Red Sox resign Generational talent Mookie Betts but.... he is available.

              QUOTE
What the Red Sox want for Mookie Betts: While it doesn’t appear that the Red Sox are on the verge of trading star outfielder Mookie Betts, there is reportedly an established asking price.

According to ESPN baseball insider Buster Olney, Red Sox chief of baseball operations Chaim Bloom has outlined what he wants from any team trying to trade for the 27-year-old Betts, who is heading into the final year of his contract.

A prerequisite for any trade, as Olney noted, is that a team be willing to take David Price (or Nathan Eovaldi) in the deal along with most, if not all, of the player’s salary ($96 million in Price’s case). That goes along with paying Betts the $27 million he’s owed in 2020.

On top of that, Boston also wants “two high-end prospects to front the deal.”

“It may be that the Red Sox never find the kind of offer they seek,” added Olney. “But Bloom has months to let this play out: Rival execs believe that Betts’s trade value really won’t drop between now and the July 31 trade deadline.”

Pull the trigger and you can get Price back with his cement shoes contract as well. Obviously the Red Sox are shedding salary, and alot of it.

But, Betts would be a great fit for the Rays, the question is do you have the high level prospects to give up and....can you take on that kind of salary? Last, does Betts want to play in Tampa?

To trade, my guess some team like the LA Dodgers get him. Free agency, maaaayybbeee the Yankees. Going to be big bucks.

              • Rays would never pay Betts. Ever.

The Sox are shopping Betts and Price on the luxury aisle. Rays don’t even look sideways over there.

                • funny. And unfortunately, the Rays aren't even in the building, let alone the room. Good luck Mr. Bloom on that deal.

And he, above most any other GM except Andrew Friedman, knows the Rays are not in that conversation in the least. Maybe Bloom should talk to Friedman.

                    • Rays need to stick to what is working for them. If they are going for a big add, they should add in free agency.

                        • Manfred is a joke and so was the punishment the Astros got. Should have officially stripped them of the title from 2017.

I may have been on the fence at one point, but listening to the Astros damage control afterwards. YES. These guys feel no remorse and feel as if they've earned that title, hope they are booed at every stadium and a few jaded pitchers take their frustrations out on them.

Reeeeealllly makes you wonder if they were cheating against the Rays when they eliminated us.

I think at the least an * next to their names as world champions

Some players should be held accountable but I would guess the players union might be tough to overcome.

They are saying up here the league knew 3 years ago. Why not take action then?

                              • Because back then it was the precious Red Sox using Apple watches. Manfred gave them a cuddly little warning and sent an email to the GMs of every team. That email, and the fact that it did not specifically require teams to inform their players, is the legal basis for the union not allowing MLB to punish players. Both sides know those punishments would not stand up in court.
