he is truly stealth, really feels like a reach given how little info exists on the kid. If someone else had drafted him then this board would have been having fun ridiculing their choice. Way more than a head scratcher, surely would have been available in the 3rd and maybe the 6th given the paucity of info leaked or known. Not even on the HF board mid rankings of Russians only:

I found my info from Draftsite.com and clicked on his name. The info came from A scout I think Bill Placzek. Have to go back and check. Just checked and made the correction to his name.

Tim says the kid purposely didn't renew his contract with SKA and has his Visa already to be here for Development Camp. He is going to play in the AHL this season unless he absolutely blows people away at the camp.

Murray said Volkov was best player on the ice (not just Russian team) for every game in the Subway Series, which included Kostin. Said Volkov was a lock for WJC but broke his foot and missed good part of the season.

Said half dozen other teams poised to draft Volkov in 2nd and 3rd rounds.

He already speaks English, already has his visa and gets his passport on Monday. Plan is to sign him to ELC and assign him to Syracuse for 2017-18.
