Just noticed that Seattle is on pace for less than 60 points in easily the worst division in the league, and they had the same opportunities as Vegas did when they got started. I figured other teams would be a little bit smarter about how they approached the expansion draft this time around, but I thought the Kraken could at least make the playoffs.

Ron Francis should’ve been fired for botching the x draft. He totally blew it and they look very much like the old skool expansion teams

I was expecting them to be a bubble team but the combination of the other teams being smarter and Ron Francis making a lot of head scratching dumb moves has really tanked them. Might've been the plan to be really bad for draft purposes but usually an expansion team wants to be at least somewhat competitive (and score some goals). People point to Grubauer being terrible but that was always a stupid signing to me, and their offense is so bad they can't hope to outscore any goaltending issues. There were plenty of better forwards to be had.

It would have been so much smarter to go with Vanecek and Driedger combo in goal and save the money they spent on Grubauer to take Tarasenko from the Blues and probably get some nice draft picks from them as well for the favor.

Being out here, I’ve seen a number of their games. Grubs has regularly stunk up the joint. With even decent GT, they’d be a .500 squad.
