  • Would you get ABB back and keep him up for a few weeks while Kuch is out? By December you would absolutely know if he can play in the NHL or not. I do think his ultimate destiny is a Cory Conacher type who gets propped up by elite linemates, puts up pretty good numbers for awhile, and then is sold high.

    • Conacher got propped up by elite linemates and put up big stats from day 1 though. ABB had 15 games with almost 16 mins of ice time per game and only had 3 goals and 0 assists to show for it. Only 1 even strength goal at that.

TB's point of "for a few weeks" is the gist of his post. I'm thinking Coop and staff are looking at this as an oppty for the Crunchers to "step up" and show what they can do at this level. Add that to the fact that 10 and 41 are still finding their place in this lineup.

          • I get it. And I wouldn’t be surprised either way if ABB is claimed by the Bolts or if he ends up back in the minors. Raddysh and Katchouk won roster spots OVER him, so it would be bizarre to undo that decision after 3 whole games. And yes, there are two other forwards trying to fit in as well. It the roster ABB didn’t make was one with Kucherov on the top line and there’s not a long line of scoring-line replacements. Right now we’re seeing Perry and Colton get some looks. Maybe Raddysh and/or Katchouk will settle in quickly and command some shifts up there. Or maybe JBB would like another option in ABB who could be pressboxed all you want. I dunno. It’s not so simple as plugging any of the three kids into a top-6 spot since none of them has shown anything (ABB having gotten a longer look). Maybe Gemel Smith comes back soon and slots into a lower line, freeing up Cooper to give Rads or Bobo some cups o coffee on a scoring line? Stay tuned!

            • You don't even have to press box him, if he doesn't get claimed we can stash him in Syracuse in case one of the above options doesn't work out.

              • And according to Elliotte Friedman we did get him back...

                • My thought was the only place ABB fit on the team was as an injury replacement on the top lines. Now that there’s a spot for him it made sense to me to bring him back. I don’t really understand why Seattle claimed him and then only kept him for what, a week and a half?

                    • Seattle Kraken legend Alex Barré-Boulet. Can't wait for the tribute he gets when we play there.

I believe in essence we did and now would need to recall him to TB. It's as if Seattle never claimed him and he made it through waivers if I understand it correctly. But I could be wrong lol.

I'm guessing he will get another shot to contribute at least as a power play specialist. The Kucherov injury changes things.
